Road Tripping in the 2020 Toyota Highlander

Let’s Go Places in the 2020 Toyota Highlander Platinum AWD. Did someone say road trip? This is the summer to road trip. Have a mask will travel!

Summer plans have changed for many this year. Though we are taking it in stride, we still wanted to get away from home.  A trip to Diamond Beach, NJ was just what we needed.  While partnering with DriveShop, our stay close to home vacation started in style with the Toyota Highlander Platinum AWD vehicle.  I am currently an owner of a Toyota RAV 4 and needed a little more room for this adventure. Our party of 6 fit perfectly in the Toyota Highlander with room for one more. My savvy ladies and I loved the classy refined style of this car.  I have to admit that I took some pointers from my teen daughters to check out the available technology that comes with the Toyota Highlander.

When you can’t fly to your next vacation spot, you want to make sure you have plenty of room for everyone. The Platinum Edition of the Toyota Highlander was our vehicle of choice for our socially distanced vacation.  This vehicle is fantastic to drive with comfortable seating for everyone including 3 adults and 3 teens.  The Toyota Highlander Platinum VG AWD Ruby Flare Pearl has Suggested MSRP of $50,663. When I shop for a vehicle, I tend to keep the basic package, for the most part, I am the only one in the car, but what a treat to have leather seats that are climate controlled to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  The captain seats in the 2nd row were also temperature controlled, keeping everyone nice and cozy., I know every passenger would love this!

Overpacking Isn’t a Problem with the 2020 Toyota Highlander Platinum

Do you tend to overpack? Not a  problem with the Toyota Highlander. As we picked up our lifelong friend and her daughter,  we had plenty of room for everyone and almost everything. (Back in May, we opened up our bubble and have been getting together with them.)  Lunches were packed in the cooler.    I’m sure we could have scaled it down a bit, but it was great to have everyone take what they wanted.  You never know what the weather will be like on your trip and that is one of the perks with driving, you can pretty much take anything with you. The essentials were sunglasses, sunscreen and a good book for the beach.

We arrived at Icona and were ready to hit the beach.  Don’t worry about getting sand in the car, you can easily shake it out from the rubber mats that line the inside and the trunk.  We might have brought back some of the sand from the beach with us.  As we would have loved to drive directly onto the beach we couldn’t but that doesn’t mean the HIghlander isn’t capable of doing so, just change the dial and select the correct terrain.

Sight Seeing In Cape May

When you are so close to the ocean why not take a drive to your nearest lighthouse down at Cape May.  Located in Cape May Point State Park, the lighthouse is located at the southern tip of New Jersey and offers wonderful views and has been aiding mariners since being built in 1859. You can climb to the top to get a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean but we were a little too late.  We lost track of time driving around town with the sunroof open checking out the restaurants and some of the nightlife.

Though this trip was more on the relaxing side and our first time being out and about we only drove by Wildwoods to get a great photo opp. Here’s to future visits with boardwalk nights.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander Platinum Has Everything I Look for in a Vehicle

Safety Safety and Safety. That is my number one priority and then comes comfort for all. Toyota vehicles have always made safety a priority for riders. The Highlander does not disappoint with eight airbags, Star Safety System, and lane departure assist. One of my favorites is the bird’s eye camera, perfect for parking spots; it is great to see all of your surroundings. No matter who is riding with me, I am responsible for everyone’s safety, and I am thrilled that Toyota feels the same way. The Toyota Highlander truly fits my style and personality.

Another favorite feature was the blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert front and rear parking assist with auto braking bird’s eye view camera. You might not have eyes in the back of your head to keep track of everything, but the Highlander offers you views around the vehicle that can’t be beaten. Living in NYC finding parking can be difficult, even leaving the driveway can be daunting, but with a little help of cameras you can see everything.

I didn’t want to give this loaner back, maybe they wouldn’t notice if I just snuck away in the trunk, I mean really there is plenty of room.  Just kidding no one was riding in the trunk.

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
