Sandals Foundation is Celebrating 11 years
The Sandals Foundation has been giving back to their communities in the Caribbean and making an impact on the world for the past 11 years.
Happy Birthday, Sandals Foundation! Thank you for all you and your team have done to not just protect the ocean life but to help educate others as well. I was lucky enough to be part of Mangrove planting while being part of Beaches Moms Social Media On The Sand retreat hosted by Beaches Resorts. My stay at Beaches all-inclusive Turks & Caicos vacation was breathtaking, I can wait to go back again and enjoy the relaxation.
When a vacation means more by giving back.
While attending Social Media On The Sand this past fall, I learned from so many inspiring speakers and took notes on how I could make changes for the blog and what I could do at home to make a difference. Little did I know that I would be making a difference while on vacation. The mission of the non-profit – Sandals Foundation is to provide educational opportunities, improve communities and protect the environment in the Caribbean. We also heard first hand from President Adam Stewart of the impact that happens when everyone works together.
Learning from the Locals.
While learning directly from one of the locals or as he referred to himself as a Bushman we were educated on the proper technique of planting mangroves. By planting these mangroves on Iguana Island we are protecting the Turks and Caicos coastline. With PVC piping cut to protect the mangrove from the incoming tides and shovel in hand we ready to plant hundreds of mangroves for the afternoon.
Sandals Foundation Is Making An Impact
The Sandals Foundation supports many projects throughout the Caribbean but seeing first hand what is being done at Turks and Caicos is so important. Three main projects that they fund are The Game Changer Mentorship, Mangrove Planting, and Infrastructure and Technology Upgrades. You can donate financially, donate your time by volunteering, sponsoring a child, and pack for a purpose.
Thank you to The Sandals Foundation for letting me be part of this enriching experience. After a day at “work”, there is nothing better than relaxing on the beach and enjoy the turquoise beaches.
