Three Simple Ways to Have Your Teen Get Ready for Back to School

Back to school time is here!  It’s really here! There is so much to do and so much to prepare that it can be overwhelming for us as parents and definitely overwhelming for your teen too. With so many classes and study requirements, school can feel overwhelming, especially in the beginning. However, I have some great products that will help your teen get ready for back to school.

Three Simple Ways to Help Teens Get Ready for Back to School

Great supplies and tons of support are the two biggest ways that we, as parents, can help our kids get ready for back to school. When our kids know they have great supplies and an excellent support system, it helps them feel more confident about their days at school.

1. Give Them Great Tools

Did you know that Crayola Take Note! offers Erasable Highlighters ?

We like the variety of colors that you can color code and highlight your work.  What we really love is how if you need to, you can erase what you have highlighted and it actually works.

Another great tool to have is the Take Note! Highlighter Pens 2-in-1. They are great for highlighting, writing and drawing too.

2. Let Them Design and Label Supplies

Everyone likes to create their own individual style when it comes to the supplies they will be using for back to school.  Before classes start, use Crayola Take Note Felt-Tip Pens to label and decorate binders and folders to give them a unique look.

3. Remind Them to Breathe

We all have to breathe, but sometimes we get caught up in the moment and need to pause for a deep breath in then a deep breath out. Anxiety and stress can build up, with assignments piling on , and even simple meditation moments can offer a moment to think and clear your mind.

In addition to the Crayola Take Note! products shown above, they also offer:

Crayola Take Note! Dry Erase Markers – Some schools have dry erase markers as an optional donate.  This would also make a great teacher gift too.

Crayola Take Note! Permanent Markers

I love the variety of permanent marker colors that come in these packs.  They are great for writing on almost anything. Label school supplies as well as clothes.  This teacher mom might just be keeping these in her classroom!

Crayola Take Note! Gel Pens are a favorite of my tween. She loves that way the ink comes out and the bright colors.  As I am writing, she took a variety of Crayola Take Note! products to draw a picture.  I’ll have to show you how it comes out!

What Crayola Take Note! products would you like to try? How is your teen preparing for back to school?

These look great! It’s always nice to have new supplies– it can really help with that feeling of getting off to a “fresh start.” I might suggest that it’s important for students to have, as much as is possible, an organized and consistent place to study at home. Shuffling around with a heavy backpack can get pretty stressful!

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
