A belated Happy New Year to all!
Many of us have the feeling of new beginnings in the first month of the year. What is your word of the year? Did you make a resolution?
After giving it much thought, I feel that I want to reclaim the word blessed. There are times where I feel like it is used often and as I reflect on my own life experiences, I thought that this would be the word for me.
Blessed
December started off with a bang for me. I had an awful cold, then a sinus infection, followed by the stomach virus. I ended the year with a UTI. All of these do not compare to what health problems others are facing but instead it reminded me of a popular phrase that my mom and grandma would say, “Health is Wealth”
I then began to think about what I wanted 2019 to bring for my family and I and all I could think about was the word blessed.
Why I am Blessed
My family is the reason I am blessed. They are my everything and I am so proud of the young women that my daughters are becoming.
I am blessed that my daughters are healthy. I am blessed that my husband is healthy.
Isn’t this what it is all about – showing gratitude and love for the most important things in our lives?
This is why I want to reclaim the word blessed and hold it dear to my heart.
We all work hard and do our best. Believe me, I do feel a sense of excitement when I receive an email offering me a trip or sponsored work. During the past eight years, I have worked hard and I feel a sense of accomplishment. But I cannot equate the feeling of blessed when one of these things happens to how I feel about my family and our well being. This is why I want to reclaim it every day and think about how special the word is and what it truly means.
I know some may differ in opinion and that is ok. As I look ahead in 2019, I feel that the word blessed is what will guide me as I make choices for myself and my family.
What do you think of the word blessed?
What is your word to guide you through the year?
(Reclaiming Blessed in 2019) I too have been dealing with many sinus infections since the fall weather started, they are no fun at all. I am blessed with a wonderful family and that my husband was able to find a new job when his old job had decided to close. We do have to wait till our new insurance kicks in and I can go back to the doctor’s again. I was diagnosed with Lupus back in July, which has been no fun at all. I have my good days and bad days for sure.
Sorry to hear of your health struggles lately. There are a ton of nasty viruses/Flu going around in Georgia right now. Health is definitely wealth!
It’s easy to forget how blessed I am sometimes. I think I would like to be stress-free this year. So easy to get caught up in the small stuff.
I think that is a wonderful word, because most of us don’t count our blessings as much as our problems. My word is ‘declutter,’ which might seem trite, especially in comparison, but I need to declutter in order to get ready to move, and it is proving to be way harder than I thought!
Sometimes it can be so challenging to keep in mind all the wonderful blessings you have in your life. I think it’s important to remember just how lucky we are in our own ways.
Health is wealth for sure. You have a beautiful family. I hope you have a happy 2019!
What a positive beautiful mindset occurs when we focus on being “Blessed”. Thank you for your insights!
Stay well, stay safe, be blessed! The world empower rings well with me. I had a rough end and start to the year as well. Definitely move forward strong!
I still can’t come up with a word, lol. It just seems really difficult to narrow it down.
2018 left a lot of people with bad health issues! People like to say “at least I have my health” but personally I find it’s always good to cultivate gratitude aside from health because that is such a crap shoot
The word blessed means family to me as well. I love my family and I love taking care of them. My mom passed away on the 11th of December. It has made me do so much thinking over the past month. I think my word for 2019 is FAMILY. When it comes down to it, after God, family is all I have.
Family and health are some of the most important things that cannot be replaced!
Beautiful! Family is so important. I know that I am blessed to have mine. They are my world!
Most definitely family is such a blessing ♡
Blessed is a word that descibes my life and the wonderful people in it like my husband, children and grandchildren. They make every single day special.
I am blessed 365 days a year. I just need to remember this.
