Raising Three Savvy Ladies

Neu Year, Neu Daily Beauty Regimen in My House

Happy New Year!  At the start of the new year, I always go through my makeup to see what has expired, what no longer works and what colors might not be right for me.    This time,  I realized that I needed lighter shades for winter and a formula that would not dry my skin.  I headed to Walmart for a Neu Year, Neu Daily Beauty update!  This year, it was not just me heading to the store to look for new products.  My oldest is now 14 and wanted to see what makeup might be a good choice for her too. Woohoo for some mother-daughter bonding time!

As we walked through the makeup aisles at Walmart, we wanted to find products that were right for both of us. I have always been a fan of  Neutrogena® and I wanted to try the Neutrogena® Hydro Boost line of cosmetics.  I definitely needed a beauty reset.  My over-40 skin was saying, “Moisture please!” and all I was doing was drying it out.

Next, we took a look at the Neutrogena® SkinClearing Cosmetics in the Walmart aisle. Each of these products help provide coverage and clear up breakouts too.  I wish they had products like this when I was a teenager!

The Hydro Boost products were easy to incorporate into my morning routine.  I used the Hydro Boost Hydrating concealer to apply around my eyes, nose and chin.   As a stick, I thought it might be drying but it is totally not.  It went on with a creamy texture and was easy to blend in.

Next, it was time to apply the Liquid Makeup Tint.  It has an applicator which made it easy to apply to my face.  Then, I used my makeup brush to blend all over. I loved the way this makeup gave me a great base and helped me create an even tone to make the redness go away.

For a new morning routine for my daughter, she started with the Neutrogena® SkinClearing Blemish concealer stick.   This line of  products help you look fresh faced.  While they may help you to cover up imperfections, they also work to improve your skin.

The next product used was the Complexion Perfector.  This helped for overall coverage and it also contains salicylic acid to help clear breakouts.

Finally, a little mineral powder helped to absorb oil and finish the look.  Mineral powder has always been one of my favorite products to create a smooth finished look.  Finally, we both added our favorite lip colors to complete our neu year neu you look!

How do we look?  I love our complete looks and I know that these lines will be perfect through the winter months.

Both of these product lines have unique benefits and you have to take a look to see what it right for you.

These products are available at Walmart in stores and online.

You two look so cute together. I have older skin too, I find most makeups terribly drying, and they make my lines stand out raather than blend them away. I might have to look at the new line you picked up. #AG

I need to look in to the hydrating concealer. I’m in my late 40’s and never wear concealer. My under eye area actually looks fine when I’m fresh in the morning and putting my makeup on, but I’ve been noticing that it’s a different story when I start to get tired later in the day!

You both look great but, What I think makes the both of you look so great is you still look natural. I’m not a fan of people that wear make up so heavy that you dont recognize them without it. I’m in my early 50’s and how I wish I could find a moisturizer I thought would make a difference. You brought up something I never thought of which is looking at your make up to include benefits like moisturizing and unfortunately I have make up 15 years old that I still use. That’s crazy I know. Great post and helped me a lot. Being in the New Year and definitely some new make up for this Mama

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action!
