American Girl Nanea Mitchell #Giveaway

Nanea Mitchell, American Girl’s newest BeForever character is here.  Nanea is a Hawaiian girl growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1941.  My daughter was immediately drawn to her.  She loved the style of her outfit along with the beautiful flower in her hair.

Telling the Story of Nanea Mitchell

Nanea’s story focuses on the bombing of Pearl Harbor and its aftermath, illuminating for girls today the courage and aloha spirit of islanders whose home-front experience during World War Two was unlike that of mainland Americans.

Creating Her Story

In creating the Nanea books and product collection, American Girl worked closely with a five-member advisory board—including an eye witness to the Pearl Harbor attack—who provided their expertise in Hawaiian culture and history to inform all aspects of Nanea’s development. I think this is an important part of our history and I am so happy that American Girl has created a story about Pearl Harbor that girls can learn more about.

Tied to Nanea’s debut, American Girl is supporting the American Red Cross and their Service to the Armed Forces mission to provide care and comfort to members of the military, veterans, and their families.

From 8/21 to December 31, 2017, American Girl will match any customer donation, up to $75,000 maximum, made at americangirl.com or at any American Girl store in the U.S.

  93. My daughter never met her great grandparents, both were career Army WW2 & Korean War veterans. Through a chance meeting her grandfather, a Vietnam Veteran Met Mr. Jerry. Mr. Jerry was the boyhood friend of the great grandfather Mush never met. NOw we meet monthly on Friday nights, over dinner history comes alive. Mr. Jerry is a WW2 Army Veteran who served in the Pacific. Mush has learned so much history, Nanea’s story would certainly tell the history through the eyes of a child. Oh she would be loved.
