Savvy Learning Back to School Guide

I teamed up with The Hopping Bloggers for this sponsored Back To School Gift Guide! All opinions are my own.

Back to school is here and we want our kids to be ready to go back to school with supplies and toys and games that will stimulate their minds.  I’ve rounded up some brands that I love as classic favorites as well as some new ones that I love too.  This year, I want to offer my girls as many STEAM opportunities as I can and these games/ toys/ manipulatives with help with just that. Take a look at how you can stimulate their learning experiences and have them prepared for school too. The Savvy Learning Back to School Guide has the perfect items you will need to start the year off right.

2017 Savvy Learning Back to School Guide

Teach My Yoga MatBack to School Gift Guide idea

The Teach My Yoga Mat Set™ – Fish & Learn is designed to encourage active learning. Research has shown that children who move while learning may absorb more. Plus, physical activity is important for a healthy mind and body. Your child can master the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors, while on the move! With a coordinated yoga mat, magnetic fishing rods, magnetic fish and inflatable dice, your child will have so much fun that they won’t even realize they are learning. What better way to prepare them for a new school year than with something that makes learning fun!

Purchase at TeachMy.com

Bitsbox – Coding for Kids

Learning shouldn’t end at school. Fill up your weekends, school nights, and holiday breaks with a fun educational subscription box for kids – Bitsbox. This monthly subscription box will teach children to code in an easy and fun way! Maybe you’ll also learn a thing or two. Designed for children ages 6-14, Bitsbox is made to appeal to boys and girls – no coding experience needed. Your children will learn to make their very own apps that they can play on the computer, tablet, or phone! Every month will feature a new project for children to indulge in.
Coding is all the rage right now.  As the mom of three girls, I know that this is something that I want them to learn and understand.  Stay tunes to see how we like this subscription box.

StemBox – STEM learning kits

Each month StemBox delivers hands-on STEM learning to girls 8-13. Girls also receive exposure to some of today’s most inspiring women in STEM through educational videos and interviews. At StemBox, they believe in breaking down stereotypical ideas about gender and toys. They love it when we see boys asking for their own StemBoxes and becoming young STEMinists. Science is for everyone! However, due to the lack of girls in STEM it is clear that action needs to be taken to reach out to girls who may not think science is for them by meeting them where their interests currently lie. And sometimes that means adding a bit of pink!

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

To enter:
1. Comment on this post as to why you would love the conversation starter deck of cards.
 2. Follow @OnOurSleevesOfficial
3. Follow me @SavvyMomNY I will pick the winners after 10pm on 11/22

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
