Unique and Practical School Supplies from School Specialty

Are you ready?

Yes, I’m ready!

Well, I don’t really know about that. Going back to work after being off brings the challenge of getting back into a routine and being prepared to welcome all my new little students. To get myself in the mode to be ready for school, I tend to shop, shop shop!

As a teacher, I love to get new supplies for my classroom.  As a mom, I need to get ready for high school, middle school and elementary school.  Three girls with different needs mean that I need lots of supplies beyond just pencils and crayons.

Did you know that SchoolSpecialty.com can help parents, teachers, and students prepare for a great new school year?

I love supplies!  Maybe it is the teacher in me who enjoys shopping for the variety out there.  Are these colors vibrant?  I have a ton of black dry erase markers in my class and welcome the opportunity to add these colors to our whiteboard lessons.  We are constantly using Post-its in the classroom.  I love have different colors and sizes for activites and lessons.

Once I get what is on my girls’ class supply list, I like to think of  “beyond the basics” tools and supplies that you can find at SchoolSpecialty.com.

In addition to having supplies at school, I also create a work area at home that I can use for creating things for lessons and my girls can use for homework and projects.  Some people call it a command center.  In my house, this command center, has what I need and what the girls need to stay organzied and be prepared.   Take a look at Getting Your At-Home Command Center BTS Ready to see what other supplies you can use.

Students today need so many unique things to be successful at school.  Binders are a must for my middle school and high school daughters.  Take a look at other Unique Tools for Getting Students BTS Ready

Did you know that headphones are close to becoming an essential? From language labs to listening centers, students are being asked to bring them in to classrooms at all grades.

Teachers are always looking for new ways to use supplies and as a teacher, I would be extremely appreciative if any of these supplies came my way.  Through the years, I have received gifts during the first week of school.  Take a look at the  Practical BTS Tools for Teachers  .

Your student’s open house night is the perfect time to give their teacher a little something to show your support and appreciation for all they do.  A little something is always greatly appreciated.

Are you ready for back to school?  Do you have a command center in your house?

Which supplies from School Specialty would you or your kids like to have?

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

To enter:
1. Comment on this post as to why you would love the conversation starter deck of cards.

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
