Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rivers Of Light Debuts Today- #DisneySMMC

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rivers of Light is classic Disney magic and then some. When it comes to anything that Disney puts together in its theme parks you know it is going to be absolutely amazing.  This was my 2nd year attending Disney’s Social Media Moms Celebration (DisneySMMC) It is a celebration of families and how Disney shares some magical moments before the general public will get to see them come to life.   On our first evening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we were treated to an awe-inspiring breathtaking performance called Rivers of Light.  This all-new nighttime show will debut on February 17th, 2017.

These are a few of the once in a lifetime opportunities that go along with being a part of the DisneySMMC.  I was so excited to be able to celebrate this year with my mom and 2 nieces. Walt Disney World is a place where all ages will have a wonderful time. Each family member can choose their own adventure.  The last time my mom had visited the parks Disney’s Animal Kingdom was under construction.  It is amazing how each time you can visit the parks there is something new to explore and no matter how many times you visit, you will never get to see everything that Walt Disney World has to offer.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Visitors and Animals Living in Harmony

“Disney’s Animal Kingdom is built around the lives of animals, built around the rules of nature, and those rules dictate that as you move between day and night everything changes…and you’re going to want to see that,” said Joe Rohde, Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “It all really is summed up by Rivers of Light. In the show, we take this combination of light and water which create life, and out of that comes this fantastically rich explosion of animal life that ultimately rises up and joins the stars.

Here is just a small glimpse of the 15-minute show that you can see on your next trip to Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom.

Sorry for the lack of sound- Disney has copyright so you can only view what was recorded.

The Magic of Rivers of Lights

The ceremony begins with a stirring musical overture signaling the arrival of a pair of mystical Storytellers, two complementary forces who come to the river bearing gifts of light. They set out from the shore aboard elaborate lantern vessels. Adorned in intricately designed costumes, the hosts engage in a dramatic dance of water and light to summon the animal spirits – an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant and Great Horned Owl – and take guests on a wondrous journey across Asian jungles and African savannahs.

I have never heard a theme park become any quieter as we all watched in wonder and amazement. As each spray of water was embraced in light images appeared across like a film screen bringing the jungle to life.  Each seating location will have a different view so this will certainly have visitors returning to see it again and again.

I hope you have enjoyed just a glimmer of what awaits you for Rivers Of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.   These are memories that will last forever and I was thrilled to be able to share them with my family

I was invited to attend The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration for a fee.  Pixie Dust was sprinkled our way for exciting opportunities and complimentary items. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

The last time we went they were still working on Rivers of Light. I can’t wait to go back to see it. We used to go to Disney every year, but the prices have gone up to the point we go once every few years now. It is still worth every penny though!

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action!
