When they say there is an app for everything, they really mean it and that is a good thing. Every day, we use apps for a variety of reasons and now there are apps that can help us with our mental health too. Everyone has days where life seems overwhelming and all consuming. It is nice to know that if you are struggling with depression, you can use the free Moodivator app from Pfizer to help in the management of your condition.
Did you know that millions of people in the United States suffer from depression, with an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) experiencing at least one major depressive episode in any given year? There have been times when talking about mental health was taboo and sometimes people do not seek the help that they need. Feeling overwhelmed and alone can affect all areas of your life.
There are a variety of ways to help treat depression such as talk therapy, medication, peer support, and a personal wellness plan. This can sometimes be a challenge and that is why the Moodivator app helps serve a positive purpose.
When I first downloaded the Moodivator app, I didn’t know what to expect. Here is the link to the Moodivator page in the iTunes App Store.
I like that when you first log in, you can log your mood or set a goal. The Log Your Mood feature is one that I liked because not only do you check in with your exact mood, you are also able to journal what exactly you are feeling and what you did at that moment or that day. This also helps to track your mood and routines so you can notice a pattern. The information can also be shared with your doctor so that he/she knows how you are doing in between visits.
I also set a goal. You are able to choose from a variety of categories including treatment, wellness, work, home & family and social. Going for a walk was my first goal.
When you are finished, you are left with an inspirational quote.
This quote reminded me of Keep it Simple. I find that sometimes our daily tasks and to do lists can leave us not knowing where to begin. This app helped me put some of my tasks into perspective.
Take a look at the Moodivator video and see how it can best help you or someone you love.
The Moodivator app is not a treatment for depression and does not take the place of your doctor’s care or advice. This app also includes information about a prescription treatment option for depression.
