This October, a teenager joined our family. When we sang “Happy Birthday”, I kept thinking to myself, “When did this happen?” How did 13 years flash by?
And then, I started thinking, not only do I have a teen, I have a tween too. Oh dear! This year, one will graduate from fifth grade and one will graduate from eighth grade. So many great things will happen and I want to let them know how special they both are, so here it goes:
Dear Teen and Tween,
You are now 13 and almost 11
Both of you are a special gift from heaven
I have always told you to be kind
When a problem arises, I know you use your mind
Other parents say that you both are a delight
This makes my heart flutter with all its might
I know that there are times that life will be rough
Have courage and faith because I know you can be tough
Always do your best, I know you can
Take risks, take chances, I’ll always be your biggest fan.
From sports to art to being a friend
I know I can count on your both til the end
Middle School and High School are coming your way
I know your graduation will be a very special day.
A word of advice I want to leave with you
GO BIG – You might say what exactly do you mean?
GO BIG with your thoughts
Go BIG with your deeds
GO BIG with your Kindness
GO BIG with your love for family
GO BIG with your friends
Don’t limit yourself, anything is possible!
GO BIG with your love and all will come true!
Love,
Mom
I hope this letter lets them know how amazing I think they both are. Not only do I think my tween and teen are amazing, Yoplait thinks that Teens are Amazing too.
I recently purchase the new Go Big. It is a large yogurt pouch designed specifically with teens in mind.
The Go Big pouch is like nothing you’ve seen before, just grip & rip! Very easy, great for on-the-go! Our calendar is super busy. I bet yours is too.
I bet your teen is amazing too. Why not let Go Big spotlight that amazingness?
For a chance to win the spotlight for your teen, go to the Go Big Amazing Teens contest page and share how your teen inspires you.
Go Big will select three teens with amazing stories and give them a platform to show the world! For more information, full contest rules can be found on the Go Big Facebook Page.
Do you know a teen that you would nominate?
Well done, Kerri! This is such a special tribute to your awesome girls!
What a beautiful letter to your teen and tween. I can’t believe how fast kids grow. My son is 16 adn planning college already.
I have a teen (and a pre-teen) that I would nominate. They both seem to always push themselves, and I know that will only help them later in life.
I have a teen I can nominate. Thank you for sharing the beautiful words for wrote for your teens.
Love that letter to your kids. I tell mine to Go Big and Dream Big!
What a great letter to your girls. I have two teen girls too and I can’t believe how fast time flew by. Love the message Yoplait is promoting and I know my kids would all love having these in their lunch bags.
Love this! I want my kids to live big too and try to tell them that. I love the letter idea.
What a great idea! My oldest is anxiously awaiting to hear from colleges he has applied to. This is something fun I could do for him.
My kids are 12, 10 and 7. We’re on the cusp of the teenage years, and I love the inspiring words in your letter!
This is a beautiful letter to your tween and tween! I’ve got teens and a tween in my house too and we are always on the go! I’ll have to check out Yoplait Go Big.
I have a niece who is pretty amazing. She’s been through a lot in her life, and she has become such a wonderful teen in spite of those odds. She’d make a great nominee!
I love your letter! Right now I have a two year old who thinks she’s 14 but no actual teens, I’m sure we’ll be there if a happen to blink
Oh your letter is one of the sweetest things ever. What a special post for your kids to look back on when they get older. I definitely have a teen I’d nominate and it just happens that I gave birth to him. 🙂
Today my oldest daughter turns 10. I’m so sad to see half of her childhood be behind her! Waaaaaa!
