My girls and I always read together. Usually, our focus is on a book for my youngest around bed time. Jacky Ha-Ha changed all of that when we started of first Mother-Daughter Book Club.
Jacky Ha-Ha is one of 7 sisters. We thought three sisters were a lot and couldn’t wait meet all the girls in the story. Jacky tends to get in trouble often and always finds herself in some sort of drama. Her dad is the head lifeguard down the shore and her mother is in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm.
The story takes place down the Jersey Shore which is one of our favorite places. In fact, we just went to the Boardwalk a few weeks ago. So, the girls thought it was absolutely hysterical and gross when Jacky and friends decided to eat as much as they could on the Boardwalk the day before school started.
Take a look at what we have to say about our Mother-Daughter Book Club.
I was so happy that all my girls enjoyed reading it together. We made sure that we have time every evening. “Read more, read more” was what I heard when I said it was time to take a break for the evening. I loved spending the time with them and reading and laughing. This book definitely set the stage for what I hope to be one of many Mother-Daughter Book Club Experiences.
We enjoyed watching Jacky turn her detentions into play practice. It was also great to read how her character grows and what happens when she grows up.
We think you will enjoy Jacky Ha-Ha by James Patterson.
Have you had a book club with your daughters?
Reading is so important and such a great thing to have instilled in children. In the summer, it keeps kids sharp. Its also a great hobby.
I read to my nieces and nephews and believe it or not to shelter cats. It is calming!
I love how your girls want to read!
This will be a memory they will cherish throughout their lives and may carry forward when they have families of their own. Reading is so important, especially in this electronically driven world. Unplugging is a great thing to instill too.
We try to read longer books to my three kids, but they can’t all concentrate yet. We are able to read history and bible stories to them, We’ll always keep trying, glad your girls enjoy you reading to them.
When my girls were growing up we read a lot. Now both of my girls are avid readers. Love the book club idea.
