Is this winter giving you the blues? Are you lacking motivation to do your normal routine? Well let’s face we all get stuck in a rut every once in while. But this winter seems to worse than other. Did you know that January 25th is considered to be the most depressing day of the year?
Citizen Watch wants to help eliminate those blues and help you Get The Most Out of Light. Beat the Monday blues and make today a little bit brighter.
Some tips I learned on how to brighten your mood.
- Open the curtains in you home to let the natural sunlight in your home.
- Invest in a light box such as Happy Light, Scientists have demonstrated that bright light therapy can act like daylight to restore balance, mood and energy.
- Even when it is really cold out, go outside for a quick walk. We get used to staying in when it is cold but the fresh air does make a difference.
- Eating smarter can make a huge impact on how you feel. Don’t forget to add some fruits and vegetables into your diet.
While at the Citizen Watch Flagship store in Times Square I was introduced to their latest technology of Eco drive. I love that their watches do not require a battery to run. A win for the environment too.
How great is it that your watch can still keep time when stored in a dark place for a period of time.
I have several watches that I don’t wear because I need to replace a battery. My citizen watch that I received last year has only need to change the time for Daylight savings.
As styles have changed over the years so has their technology.
With a full array of styles there is sure to be a perfect match for you or a loved one.
The staff is so pleasant and will let you try on any style.
Of course I had to go with something that had a little bling to it.
Everyone loves a little sparkle in their life.
I even had my new Silhouette Sport (MODEL: EW2370-57A) sized right in the store so I could start wearing it that day. Since having a Citizen watch and wearing it all the time I would highly recommend it to anyone is is thinking of purchasing a new watch.
Would you like to win one as well?
One lucky reader will win a SILHOUETTE SPORT watch which has a timeless silhouette with classic lines and sleek design, the Ladies’ Eco-Drive Sport features a stainless steel case & bracelet with a snow white dial and date. Estimated to be a $250.00 value.
We fight the winter blues by opening all the blinds during the daytime and letting the sunlight in. While the windows may let some cold in with the blinds open, to combat that, we bought the heavy duty cutains that keep out cold, heat, and light. We cut them in half and only put them in the top half of the windows between the window and the blinds to keep out the colder air. It works great and looks just fine.
I try to go outside everyday for a bit of sun.

I find that if I surround myself with life (animals and plants) and color (in my house and in my clothes) that really helps me. Also the best (I know!) way to beat the blues is intense exercise. When I lost a loved one, I started to train for a marathon and it really helped me feel better.

I think that being forced to walk my dog every day- even in Winter- keeps most of the blues away.
Go out for a walk by the lake early in the morning to enjoy the sun rise!
I have never really noticed having any ‘winter blues’ , and I make the most of the light by making certain that I get outside on sunny days and making certain that whatever light possible gets into the house through the windows.

I do my best to get up with the sunlight and go to bed a little early during the winter months! I also leave my curtains open more to let in the natural sunlight!
