Every year it seems that the holidays go by quicker and quicker. I am always at a loss as what to get my nieces for Christmas, with ages ranging from 5 to 12 it can be tricky. They are no longer in the stage of matching outfits.
This year I decided to take them to Great Wolf Lodge while they had a day off from school for conferences. They had no clue they were going as I picked them up from school they wondered why we weren’t go straight home.
You might have heard the screams of excitement when I told them we were going to Great Wolf Lodge for the night and following day. With less than a 2 hour drive we arrived a little bit after 5 pm and were able to take full advantage of the 84 degree indoor water park from the moment we arrived.
The first thing everyone did when arriving was quickly change into their swimsuits and have a snack. The fruit platter was the perfect welcome for us after our car ride.
Kids of all ages can wear Wolf Ears and those celebrating a birthday get a special treat as well ice cream all day long. Everyone at the Lodge notices and says Happy Birthday to you during your stay. With a room for 6 we had plenty of space, but let me tell you, you aren’t in it that much. With so much to do around the lodge: for us it was the perfect size.
The best part about staying at Great Wolf Lodge is that once you enter, there is no reason to leave. Everything is at your finger tips from the dining areas, arcade, water park and so much more. We were even able to see Santa!!
The girls are making a list of every slide they want to go on and see how much fun they can have in 2 days!!
With so many options from ice cream, cotton candy, fudge and more it is impossible to make a decision.
Dippin’ Dots is her favorite so the rainbow flavor was an obvious choice. The servings are so big we had to share!
With the lobby fully decorated for the holidays, from trees, Gingerbread houses and lights galore Great Wolf Lodge is a wonderful place to celebrate the “howlidays”.
Selfie time while waiting for the show to get started. I love that everyone is in their pajamas for story-time and most kids are carrying a favorite stuffed animal. As we listened and sang along during the lobby show some in our group were getting a little sleepy. Everyone slept well from traveling and being in the water most of the day.
When the show was over, everyone was surprised that it actually snows inside. What a great treat since we haven’t had any snow at home yet.
No one can ever resist a photo opp. Look how cute they are! I feel so lucky to be able to spend time with my nieces.
The next morning we woke to see a huge surprise outside. Santa would be making a very special appearance later in the afternoon. I think I was more excited than the girls to see the Coca- Cola truck , it is the one that lights up!
If you are going to see Santa you have to make sure that you have written him a letter. Great Wolf Lodge is prepared. They have a mailbox set up right in the lobby.
With their letters and list all ready to go we were off for another day of swimming and relaxing in the lazy river. I hope she gets everything on her list. She has been a great little sister and a fantastic niece this year.
Staying mid-week right before the holidays was perfect. We were able to hop right on the rides. It was like having the whole place to ourselves. Everything was at our finger tips. Next time we might have to check out Scoops Spa for manicures and pedicures.
After a morning of splish-splashing around we decided some craft time was in order.
Through out the day there are activities taking place all over the lodge. Even on the day you are leaving you can stay in the water park and enjoy all the amenities that Great Wolf has to offer till late in the afternoon. Who wouldn’t want to stay when you are in 84-degree indoor water park.
Our last bit of excitement for the day was meeting Santa Claus. He was outside with all his friends from the North Pole and Great Wolf Lodge. These girls are on the nice list and I bet they even asked Santa if they could come back again next year.
Thank you Great Wolf Lodge for a wonderful time of bonding and great memories that will last a lifetime. I’ll have to check in with Santa for next year’s visit.
Have you been to Great Wolf Lodge?
As always all thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a media rate for staying at Great Wolf Lodge.
Wow this looks amazing! What a fun place to visit!
I still haven’t been to a great wolf lodge, and they are two great ones in between where I live in Charlotte NC and in Viriginia.
I have never been to a Great Wolf Lodge but this looks like so much fun! I love the Wolf ears! 🙂 What an awesome aunt you are for doing this!
We have been to the one near our house. A great way to get the kids tired on a snow day.
How fun! We’ve never been yet but it’s on our to-do list. It looks so much fun!
We stayed a few years ago and had a blast! I love indoor water parks this time of year, they are perfect for family fun.
Wow, the holiday decor is stunning! I haven’t been to Great Wolf Lodge but we definitely want to visit when my youngest is a little bit older so that we can all enjoy what they have to offer!
Looks like so much fun! They are building a Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado. I cannot wait to visit when it opens!!
Never even heard of it before, but then I live in Colorado so not right next door. Looks like lots of fun.
Wolf Lodge is not too far from us. It looks like a great family getaway.
