Lucy Liu Interview for Kung Fu Panda 3 (Giveaway)

KFP3-Banner2

Save the date, Kung Fu Panda 3 is coming to theaters January 29th.  I was lucky enough to have a get a glimpse of some upcoming scenes and have a private sit down conversation with Lucy Liu.  Lucy reprises her role as the voice of Viper.  It was wonderful to hear about her reaction to the film as well as her experiences of being a first time mom while juggling her career.

Several other bloggers and myself were able to have a candid coversation with Lucy Liu regarding the movie as well as her personal life.  It was wonderful to hear that she is just like other new moms out there who need help too.  While balancing her day job of 16-18 work hours. Lucy mentions that she knew what she was getting into while working and starting a family.

I already had a very rigorous and intense schedule.  So I knew that when I took the job that I was considering having a family.  So, I was kind of like, okay, so the best thing to do is lay the groundwork and have a job that is in one place, which would be television, and something that is secure for the time being.

Kung Fu Panda has a wonderful story line as well and everyone will appreciate that family is such a huge part of the movie.   Not many child friendly movies talk about the dynamic of a family and that isn’t always regarding biological parents. There are adoptive parents and close family members who take care of children and teenagers.  Who is part of your community raising your children?   Lucy mentioned she was surprised the movie spoke about it but was grateful they did. This way no one will be leaving the theater feeling like a part was missing. This can bring up great discussions regarding who is part of your “family”.

And I love that the story, specifically for our movie in this particular one, is about family and what is your family.  What does that mean?  Is it your genetic family?  Is it the person that brought you up or the person who really looks like you?  It’s not about that.  It’s a shared effort.  It’s a shared community.

LucyLui-SplitScreen

For Actors there might be a time when some movies they make aren’t always “family friendly” but for Lucy the Kung Fu Panda series will lead to lot of laughter in the future when her son is old enough to watch.

And I love the idea that this is the legacy that you leave behind.  And it’s not about you being a part of it, because that’s going to be sort of just a blur.  It’s just going to be the entertainment value, the created laughter that they’re going to have, the enjoyment of sharing that.

Children recognize voices so quickly so it would be wonderful to see her son’s reaction to watching these movies while having an animated character speaking with his moms voice.

I am looking forward to see how the whole movie is put together and might have to have a refresher and watch the previous 2 movies too!

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

To enter:
1. Comment on this post as to why you would love the conversation starter deck of cards.

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
