October is here and that can only mean one thing – Time for Halloween!
Halloween will be here before you know and it is time to start thinking of decorating the house, what costumes your family will be wearing and of course of the candy that comes along with this great holiday.
It is never to early to start planning a theme for Halloween. I recently was able to attend an event with Woman’s Day Magazine to get crafty. With crafting supplies found at your local Michael’s Stores anyone can do these easy fun and entertaining crafts. When crafting there is no right or wrong so get the whole family involved to show off their artistic side and have a blast.
For today’s craft project we were making haunted houses out of birdhouses. With a little imagination paint and lots of fun our houses came out so cute and unique to everyone.
Our birdhouses all lined up before being painted.
Make sure you check out the Woman’s Day Magazine for additional tips and tricks for getting ready for the Halloween season. Before you know it October 31st will be here.
To make the shingles on the roof you can use photo corners layered on top to get a life like look. What a great idea to give the haunted house a little more dimension.
Though I decided not to add shingles to my bird house, I covered my not so haunted house with polka dots for a more whimsical look. The glitter bird adds a little more bling to the house and is easily attached with glue dots.
Don’t forget when painting the house to get all the under parts of the roof. Smaller paint brushes work best for this part. The more intricate designs might need tiny brushes too.
Pumpkins even make great centerpieces too. So easy and yet so elegant looking.
This free-floating ghost had us all in amazement as to how easy it is to make. All you need is cheesecloth, a 2 liter soda bottle, round Styrofoam for the head and a wire hanger and of course spray starch. Place the foam on top of the soda bottle, Spread out the wire hanger around the neck of the bottle to be the arms, drape over the cheese cloth and spray away. For a step by step guide you can click here.
For another easy to do craft project you can make molds off your hands by ordering Skullduggery Gestures Mold Kit. What a great idea to either keep white or decorate to be more life-like. Place them around the house to give everyone a little spook.
Next up we were on to pumpkin decorating, with no carving needed grab your favorite sharpie colors and make any design you can imagine. Spray paint is also an easy way to dress up you pumpkin in no time at all. In no time your house will be all ready for Halloween with these simple to do crafts.
Using the side of the marker will make it easier to achieve your design.
The current issue has some spectacular carved pumpkin ideas as well.
