We are in the swing of back to school and now is the time to make sure your child’s eyes are ready for reading, viewing the board and all the other activities of the week.
There is no better time to make sure that your child’s eyes are ready for the demands of learning, and for extended hours viewing smart boards, screens and notebooks.
Cohen’s Fashion Optical, a leader in the eyewear industry since 1927, knows how important good vision is to a child’s education and development. That is why the company has launched their Cohen’s “Cares For Kids” eye care program offering free eye exams* for children ages 5 – 16 through the month of September at participating Cohen’s locations in the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island.
Any difficulties with a child’s vision can quickly lead to difficulties in school. It is particularly important for children to have regular vision screenings as potential issues that might be present can be more easily corrected if caught earlier. Through the Cohen’s “Cares For Kids” program, parents can bring their school age children (5 – 16 years of age) into any participating Cohen’s location from Mondays through Fridays in September for a free eye exam (valued at $50) by a licensed Cohen’s optometrist to make sure their child’s eyes are in the best health for school. For a list of participating stores, please visit www.
There are a few signs that parents should be aware of when it comes to their child’s eye health.
If a child squints while reading or watching television, has a tendency to avoid reading, has frequent headaches, rubs their eyes or is extremely sensitive to light, parents should immediately schedule a vision screening for their child.
We had a great experience at our local Cohen’s Fashion Optical in Bay Plaza. I think it will be my turn to head back for an eye exam soon!
I had to start wearing glasses when I was a kid. We found out by chance that I was seeing as well as I could, but an eye exam would have helped me earlier!
This is such a nice thing for them to do. Eye exams can cost a lot of money
It is nice that they offer free eye exams for kids. We tend to overlook this aspect of our child’s health because the kids rarely complain about it. I think it is about time that we pay more attention to this.
This is good to know! Eye exams can be costly, so I love the option of FREE!
It’s so smart to have your kid’s eyes examined. I love that Cohens Optical offers free exams!
