New Crayola® DJ app Helps add the A into STEAM

Thank you to Legacy Games for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.

My girls love music.  My third grader plays the violin and we all listen to a variety of music together.

CrayolaDJ

I knew that the Crayola® DJ app, a cool and unique music creation app for kids, would definitely be something that my girls would want to check out.  This app is geared for ages 6-10. You can head to Google Play to download Crayola DJ

Crayola DJ app

As we explored the app together, I immediately thought of STEAM education which integrates arts with STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education.  Getting both sides of the brain to learn new skills in an imaginative way is something that I see this app supporting.  By being able to compose your own music and share, kids have fun and learn at the same time.

With Crayola DJ, kids can learn the basics of music production, as well as mixing and scratching music just like a real DJ!

Kids will have so much fun playing with almost 100 exclusive tracks (created by professional DJ’s).

Crayola DJ app music

5 musical styles are available, including Hip Hop, Pop and Dance. -Mix it!

Kids can easily mix multiple tracks simultaneously in any way they choose, creating customized, professional -sounding results. Kids will enjoy it, no matter the child’s musical knowledge or skills. Once a child has mixed their music to perfection, it’s performance time! They can perform on the main stage for an audience, scratching the turntable and creating a spectacular light show with the color-coded tracks. It’s a lot of fun and they can even earn points during the show: The more scratching and on the fly changes children make, the greater the applause of the crowd and the higher the point score. -DJ Battle!

DJs can also battle it out in two-player mode to see who the star of the main stage is. -Save the music! After every performance, DJs can then save their music to play again and again and even share with friends and family.

With Crayola® DJ, kids become their own celebrity DJs!

The new Crayola® DJ app is available now for $4.99 on Google Play for Android phones and tablets.

In June, it will also be sold in the iTunes Store for iOS devices, for the same price.

I liked the idea that kids can compose their own music and share. And like you said combines STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and arts together for kids to play and learn.

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice.
