Three Easy Tips to Surviving the School Morning with El Monterey #Momwins #elmonterey

School mornings are tough.  Waking everyone up, getting lunches ready and making sure all belongings go to school can make for a hectic experience. El Monterey Signature Breakfast Burritos help me have a mom win on busy school mornings.

Here are some of my tips for how I survive the morning and get out the door on time:

plan ahead

1. Plan ahead.  “If you don’t plan ahead, you plan to fail”  is something of a motto that I try my best to follow.

To help do that, I take the girls with me food shopping so that we have a variety of breakfast items that will make everyone happy. One of the items that is a crowd pleaser is the  El Monterey breakfast burritos found in the freezer section.

2. Prepare  lunch the night before.

Another way to enjoy breakfast time is to have lunch prepared.  Making sandwiches, cutting fruits and veggies and preparing water bottles the evening before can save much needed minutes in the morning.  Quick, easy breakfasts give us more time to enjoy each other in the morning.

Lunches Packed

3. Pack schoolbags the night before.

No one likes to run around searching for everything in the morning.  To help everyone get ready, we pack all backpacks once homework and studying is done.  In addition, we put phones, sports items, instruments or whatever is needed that day right by the backpack so that we do not forget.  I have everyone’s schedules in my Google calendar so I can easily check my phone and see what everyone needs.

Pack backpack

If my three savvy ladies and I succeed at having the above items done, then the morning is much smoother and there is time to enjoy breakfast and be together as a family before the school day begins.   With just a few minutes to prep, El Monterey Breakfast burritos are ready.

Easy breakfast #momwins

If the morning is super busy such as the ones where there is early instrument practice, I wrap a paper towel around the burrito and we are ready take breakfast on-the-go.

Here are the variety of flavors that are available:

I’m almost ashamed to say that my little guy (who leaves at 7:30) will only eat some turkey bacon and drink milk before leaving and my oldest and middle child leave at 7:50 and eat at school. It’s too crazy to feed all kids in the morning and get us all out. I don’t end up eating until I get to my office at 8:45.

These sound great! Perfect for us busy moms who barely can grab a bite in the morning! I can warm up while doing other things and then grab on the way out

We are always on the go and with my kiddo’s school being so far away we run out the door usually with a bagel in hand. This looks like a MUCH tastier breakfast! My kids would love it!

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

Totally bittersweet and we went to visit Binghamton in October 2019 and only made it to two more before March 2020. I’m only thinking of bright skies ahead for the both of them filled with amazing memories and wonderful opportunities 💚

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
