When You #ShareAwesome, You Can Win Awesome Prizes too! #CG

One thing I enjoy very much about social media is that it gives me the opportunity to share the good and awesome with my friends and family. Whether it is time together or an accomplishment at school, I love catching it in action.

Awesome pumpkin

I was so happy to see my daughter’s pumpkin globe.  I taught third grade years ago and now the time and dedication it takes to  create this project.  The teacher needs to have a lot of patience and the students  take a few days to complete it.  Making a pumpkin globe is a learning experience that is worthy of sharing.  Totally awesome!

While at the NY Botanical Gardens, my youngest decided to put on a puppet show and became a one-man act.  In an instant, she created a plot and others started to gather around for her performance.  Definitely #ShareAwesome worthy!

Me L & Meem

The other evening, my mom, sister and I were able to spend time at my grammar school’s fundraisier.  I can’t think of when we took a photo together.  When I shared this photo, it was nice to see people from the past who were happy to see the three of us together. An awesome moment when I focusing on sisters and daughters.

Being able to take a photo where we are all looking is definitely and Awesome moment.  It is such a challenge for all of us to be smiling and looking at the same time.  So happy to share this awesome moment.

Today’s families use digital technology in every aspect of life – from learning and socializing, to gaming and shopping! Broad access and use of technology is awesome – and opens so many new opportunities for so many students. But like any aspect of life, there are things you need to know to make positive, safe decisions.

Now that my girls are getting older, I try to stress the importance of sharing the good that is out there.  There are too many times where we here of apps and social media moments that have bullied someone or worse.  Being open and talking about appropriately using Instagram is one way we talk about social media.  I hope that my account can be looked at by her as a “teaching moment”.

Share awesome

National PTA has partnered with LifeLock to share awesome ways families can create an open, evolving conversation about positive, safe decisions when using digital tools. It’s all part of having a happy, healthy lifestyle. For you, your family, your friends, and the whole world – everyone benefits when you #ShareAwesome!

The #ShareAwesome campaign seeks to build an understanding among parents and students that no matter the device, the app or the networking site – the skills we need to be safe and positive online are similar to what you need offline.

#ShareAwesome celebrates students and families who use digital media and tools for good – good for themselves, their family, their friends and the whole world.

The #ShareAwesome contest invites social media users to share a smart and safe decision, uplifting accomplishment, or positive action for the good of others using hashtag #ShareAwesome on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

  • “Snap a photo of an awesome moment in your day and share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the #ShareAwesome hashtag!

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

To enter:
1. Comment on this post as to why you would love the conversation starter deck of cards.

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
