Making sure that my daughter has a new phone that works well is a priority for me. Heading off to middle school is a milestone of independence that will take for some adjusting for me. However, if she has a phone, it will give the me the comfort of knowing that we can be connected. I wanted the best wireless that was also a cheap wireless plan or should I say one that wouldn’t break the bank. This, to me, is the perfect gift for back to school.
With just a few short weeks before school starts, we headed to Walmart to get a phone for school. My oldest is now of an age where having a phone can help for safety and the ability to get in touch when plans after school change.

Lowest price Wireless mobile
When we got to the the Electronics department, we found the Walmart Family Mobile display on the header or end cap of the aisle.
We purchased the WFM Alcatel One Touch Fierce ($99.88) – great smartphone under $100 (On Rollback from $129.88). The was the perfect price for this present and a perfect time of year for a rollback on a needed phone. Don’t forget the starter kit for only $25 so you will be ready to set up service right away. And the present for me was that it was only going to be $34.88/month for Unlimited Talk, Text, and Web!
My current cell phone service is through AT & T and we are currently in a contract. I didn’t want to start a contract for my daughter but I wanted to see what an affordable new cell phone service would be able to offer. I didn’t want to put her on my plan until I had gone to Walmart and became savvy on the savings and what exactly it had to offer. Spending more money for cell phone service is not something I want to be doing right about now so I wanted to explore different options that are available out there. Having used Walmart Family Mobile in the past, I knew this was going to be the best choice for us.
The WFM Alcatel One Touch Fierce is going to help with after school activities because every day after school has a different plan and it can be challenging to keep track of it all. Between CCD, sports and friends, it is necessary for my middle schooler to be able to stay connected with me or my husband. This way, she has independence and we know where she is.
I love this plan because it is affordable and it enables parent and child to be in touch without the burden of an expensive contract. The calendar helps her remember her schedule and we will be able to text or call to stay in touch.
On the first day of middle school, her backpack will be packed, supplies will be inside and her WFM Alcatel One Touch Fierce will be charged and ready to go. I know it will be emotional for me and exciting for her. I will be at ease because I know that we will be connected at all times.
Walmart Family Mobile is now on Twitter! Follow their handle: @FamilyMobile.
Do you have someone heading to middle school, high school or college? How are you preparing for the first day?
I have used their plan and still do, it is great and my oldest girls want their phone now as well. Like your daughter, I think they are ready and would like them to have one for emergencies if they need me
This is a Great starter phone. This is what my niece should’ve started with instead of a darn iphone!
My contract is ending soon and I will be checking out Walmart to check out their plan. Great to see an afforadable plan out there.
I’m not ready for the kids to go back to school! I’m also not ready to admit my kids are growing up and need cell phones. With all of the activities they do after school, having a cellphone is quickly becoming a necessity.
This is a great idea for kids. You hope they don’t lose a phone, but if they do, you don’t have to stress so much about the contract.
Great phone, and cute backpack! We are almost all prepped and ready as well. Maybe another outfit or two. 🙂
I have heard so many good things about this cell phone/service. This would be perfect for my boy when he gets a phone!
I cannot even imagine sending one of my littles to middle school! I know it is coming eventually, so information like this is definitely helpful. Thanks for sharing!
It’s a better deal than my plan!
it’s a great plan and one I have seriously considered for our oldest son.
I am totally jealous. What a great plan. All of our plans up here are expensive.
My son started middle school this year. We gave him my old flip phone and added him our family account, but I do love these affordable Walmart plans. If we ever allow, him to have a data plan on his phone, I will definitely consider one.
I’m pretty much through those days, but I totally remember them. I think this phone and plan is the perfect one for kids.
We love our WFM phone!!
I’m still raising a baby and a preschooler, but I know it won’t be long before the oldest wants his own phone. I think middle school is a good time to get one, since they will likely be doing after school events and activities.
My grandson is starting middle school this year. He just seems so young for it to me!
Those are some great phone plans. My oldest just started first grade, so we have a few years until middle school. I’m sure it will fly by, though!
An unlimited plan is the way to go, especially with kids. It looks like you found a good option.
YUP! My Oldest is going into 8th grade. We still have to get the fancy calculator but other than that we’re just enjoying our last week before school starts!
My brother is heading to college and I gave him a bunch of pointers about how to study and manage his time and to take advantage of campus activities.
LOVE her backpack!
I’ve had my walmart plan for years and I love it, those other people rip you off.
