Raising Three Savvy Ladies

NYC Lifestyle Blog

July 22, 2014 //

Get Ready for Back to School Event #MomtrendsBTS #btsstyle

Thank you to Megan for attending the Momtrends Back to School event on behalf of Raising 3 Savvy Ladies.  All thoughts and opinions are her own.

September is right around the corner, so Momtrends hosted a blogger event to showcase the best back-to-school brands and experts.  I attended the event, which was held at Vera Bradley in New York City, and got an insider’s view of what’s hot in back-to-school style.
Revolution Foods #MomtrendsBTS
Party refreshments for the Momtrends Back-to-School Style event included tasty snacks from Revolution Foods.  Revolution Foods are the perfect alternative to those other popular meal kits.  Revolution Foods Meal Kits have the same convenience for kids’ lunches without the nitrates, preservatives, and artificial colors. The meats are raised with no antibiotics and the cheeses are from cow that aren’t treated with rBST.
Momtrends Back to School Models #btsstyle
These adorable models were having fun in trendy back-to-school styles from Lands End, French Toast, Stride Rite, and Vera Bradley.
French Toast #MomtrendsBTS
For your kids who are required to wear uniforms to school, French Toast Official School Wear is a line of quality, affordable stylish uniforms. Sizes start at 2T!
Momtrends Vera Bradley
Vera Bradley mixes “bold” and “quite” patterns for a trendy look in kids’ backpacks and accessories.
Barbara Bradley #MomtrendsBTS
Did you know that Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, co-founder of Vera Bradley, was  a mom of 4 (all born within 5 years!) when she started the company with her friend, Patricia Miller?  She is a charming lady in person…and so chic!
Mabel's Labels Momtrends #BTSStyle
Mabel’s Labels are essential for keeping track of easily misplaced items.  I’ve found them to be perfect for identifying my children’s school and daycare supplies.
Stride Rite #MomtrendsBTS
New Stride Rite styles will impress any young fashionista, but moms can be confident that they will
support kids’ growing feet.
Momtrends #btsstyle Vamouse
Be ready for the dreaded “Lice Outbreak Letter” from your child’s school!  Vamousse is a line of lice prevention and treatment products that are non-toxic and pesticide-free.
Wall Pops #MomtrendsBTS
I was so impressed with the array of beautiful designs from Wall Pops, removable/repositionable, peel and stick wall decals. In addition to wall art, there are many organizing tools like dry erase note boards and calendars.
Yell Less, Love More, a parenting memoir by Sheila McCraith, is next on my reading list.  Sheila challenged herself to stop yelling at her kids, and succeeded.  How did she do it?  What was the result?  I can’t wait to read it.

What an awesome line up of brands that Momtrends brought together for the Back to School season.  Stay tuned for upcoming posts as I am sure I will be sharing more about them!

Which of these brands would you like to include in your Back to School shopping?

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

To enter:
1. Comment on this post as to why you would love the conversation starter deck of cards.

Totally bittersweet and we went to visit Binghamton in October 2019 and only made it to two more before March 2020. I’m only thinking of bright skies ahead for the both of them filled with amazing memories and wonderful opportunities 💚

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
