Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square invites you and your family to experience the “Little Apple,” a new interactive gallery combining the thrilling sights and sounds of New York City.
We had such rainy day fun on our visit. The girls didn’t know what to expect and each room had something interesting for each age.
This is Ripley’s newest, experiential exhibit that shrinks the “Big Apple” into one room where kids and parents can sample unbelievable New York City experiences including:
- Casting its mighty reflection onto a suspended mirror, the “Empire State Building” exhibit creates an entertaining optical illusion where guests appear to be flying through the air like Superman, hanging from the spire like King Kong or scaling the building’s façade like Spiderman.
They had such laughs while playing with the Empire State illusion. This was one of my favorite pics because it looks like they are blowing in the wind.
- Inspired by seventh generation aerialist and high-wire artist Nik Wallenda’s miraculous feats (as seen at the Baltimore Inner Harbor, Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls), “The Wallenda Wire” entices daredevils with a simulated walk above Manhattan’s mid-town skyscrapers.
- “Lights to the City” where guests can set a colorful tone using control panels integrated in custom interactive New York-inspired street lamps, similar to those found throughout Central Park. Standing at eight feet tall, each lamp projects a vibrant light using an array of colors from red and blue to green and purple.
- Almost as iconic as the sights, the “Sounds of New York” inside the “Little Apple” pays homage to the urban orchestra using specialized sound generating units at three different sound stations to amplify, alter and test various objects including cab doors, hub caps, pizza boxes, a stop sign and more.
We highly recommend visiting Ripley’s Believe it or Not whether you are being a tourist in your own neighborhood like us or are coming for a NYC visit. We had lots of fun in all the exhibits and can’t wait to see what they have coming next!
