I attended the Momtrends Trendy Travel Event in NYC. Not only was it a blast to mingle with a terrific group of bloggers, but I also learned about some great products and tips for family travel.
Straight to the highlight of the evening, the location. The Trendy Travel event was held at Butterfly Studio, a chic but welcoming hair salon run by style genius, Kattia Solano. Kattia showed the crowd some gorgeous and totally easy style ideas for travel, like the upside-down twist, and braided pony-tail. Her trick is to use beach spray to create some texture and keep your ‘do in place and looking fantastic. Two must-haves Kattia suggests for travel are dry shampoo for dry styling and clear elastic bands for your ponies and up-dos.
I was treated to a hair-styling session with Kelly from Butterfly Studio. I arrived with my blow-dried, but blah, same-old hairdo, and she created a really pretty Hollywood Glam ‘do with a curling iron and a little product. She had the best advice for me in my quest to style my hair with ease during my day-job as a SAHM, as an alternative to keeping it in a pony-tail 5 days a week. Here’s her brilliant but simple advice. Put conditioner in my dry hair at night and let it sit in a pony during dinner. This way the magic of the conditioner isn’t diluted by the water in the shower. Then shower before bed and let it dry naturally. Not blow-drying will be so much kinder to my hair. Then put some hot rollers in my hair in the morning and go about my business. When I take them out, I’ll be Hollywood -glam without a blow-dryer or curling iron!
Next, Kim-Marie Evans, Luxury Travel Mom, presented on the subject of what’s trending in travel. I am not an experienced traveler and always find travel planning a Catch 22. I thought DIY travel planning keeps the cost down, even though it’s labor-intensive. Well, Kim-Marie pointed out that even the seasoned traveler uses a travel advisor. Using a travel advisor won’t break the bank and it will likely save you in the long run by making the most out of what there is to offer at your destination. She also suggests going on group tours because there are benefits to booking events and excursions in numbers, it’s stress-free, and you get to meet new and interesting people. Visit her post for much more helpful family travel info.
Momtrends featured some terrifically trendy products in travel. Britax carseats and accessories are always stylish; and you can be confident that they are ultra safe too. We previewed the BOB Revolution Pro stroller ($500), the newest BOB stroller. The new features on this stroller are the adjustable handlebar, easy two-step fold, and swiveling front wheel that locks for stability. The locking feature is great for running and getting through sand at the beach.
A great little backpack for the kids was featured as well. The Paddlepack by Trunki ($25) is a lightweight, waterproof, kid-sized backpack that comes in brightly-colored animal styles, especially lots of sea-life animals. These are great for any travel destination, but especially perfect for the beach and water parks.
To finish off the night, mom blogger friends modeled Miraclesuits for a mini fashion show. I’ve worn Miraclesuits because of their unmatched supportive control and because they really do make me look a little skinnier. However, I never expected much in the way of trendy style. Now, the Miraclesuit line is full of current, chic, and colorful styles. I can’t wait to get myself one (or two) for this summer.
The number one thing I took from the Momtrends Trendy Travel event was inspiration to plan our next family trip. Traveling with kids can seem exhausting, difficult, and too expensive; but, it doesn’t have to be! With the right information and gear, travel can be very accessible.
