I am always in the car with my family. School, sports, events on the weekend. We are always on the go! While driving in the car, it is important to make responsible choices. Especially when driving with children. I have 3 girls and I feel like they watch every move I make.

I know they are watching me in the car. Time to model good behavior!
1. Put your phone out of reach. One thing that I have been doing lately is putting my phone on the charger. Then, I place the phone back in my bag before I start driving. This way, it is out of reach and there is no reason to check a text while driving.
My oldest is 10 and there is no way that I want her to think that being on the phone in the car is ok.

Keeping my hands on the wheel!
2.Another way to model good behavior is use appropriate language when driving. I have found there are numerous times that those driving around me make inappropriate moves that make me want to say things I shouldn’t. Instead, I try to use it as a learning lesson and talk about how you always need to be alert and aware of all the drivers around you.
3. My last way to model good behavior is show the appropriate kind of stops at a stoplight. I think this happens most often when coming to a yellow light. Yellow is a reminder to slow down and be ready to stop. Too often, I see others speeding through it to hopefully beat the red.
Talking about car safety has me in the mood to talk about new cars!
