Smashburger has arrived in White Plains NY located at 49 Tarrytown Road and I was able to get a sneak peek at the latest burger establishment. While at the kickoff event fellow members of media and press were invited to get a sampling of all that Smashburger has to offer and to see what makes them stand out from other competitors. I was astonished to see how detailed every burger can be made and all the toppings make them taste so delicious. The secret is in the Smash.
While arriving the staff was so gracious offering drinks ans appetizers. I highly recommend the Veggie Frites a combo of string beans and carrots that are flash fried for 30 sec and splashed with a little sea salt and for a drink I had to go with Stewart’s Root Beer, I don’t see it offered in many places so it was a great treat to have. Other Appetizers that were served were the smash fries tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic. But one of my favorites were the Haystack Onions with special dipping sauce. The onions are out of this world crispy enough to taste everything but not to big that when you bite in it you lose the whole onion. I’ll let you in on a secret they also served fried pickles which aren’t on the menu but they will make them for you if you ask.
First off the tasting menu was the CLASSIC SMASH- American cheese, smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on an egg bun.
Don’t worry, I didn’t have to eat the entire burger every sampling was cut up in fours to share with your group at the table. I was nice to hear everyone’s opinions after tasting each burger.
Next up was the BBQ, BACON & CHEDDAR BURGER- this burger is made with BBQ Sauce , applewood -smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and haystack onions on an egg bun.
This is a must try even if you don’t care for BBQ sauce it isn’t over powering and nothing is falling of the burger so you don’t lose a single piece of bacon or the onions.
Who would have thought that you could get a TRUFFLE MUSHROoM SWISS BURGER at SMASHBURGER well you can, the ingredients are truffle mayo, sautéed baby portabella mushrooms and aged swiss cheese on an egg bun. This burger was absolutely delicious, I normally don’t eat mushrooms but I had to give it a try I was blown away at how good it tasted.
Did you know that every SMASHBURGER has a unique burger to the region in which the establishment is located for the Westchester county region it is the
LOCAL NEW YORKER BURGER- Consisting of NY Cheddar, garlic onions, spinach, tomato and Peppercorn Garlic Aiolo on a brioche bun.
You can only order these speciality burger at the locations in Westchester county. Brooklyn Ny has it own as well on a pretzel bun I will have to do a taste test there as well.
If you thought they only have meat options you were wrong. If you like spicy food you have to give the SPICY VEGGIE BLACK BEAN a try- made up of Pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy chipotle mayo and fresh jalapeno on a spicy chipotle bun.
This was certainly a first for me to try It tasted really good however I could have done with only 1 jalapeno not the 4 that are on it. very hot hot hot. You can always ask for them on the side if you would like.
If you prefer something a little different and want a chicken sandwich then these next 2 SMASHCHICKEN options are a great choice. They are always made up of 100% tender marinated chicken
The CLASSIC CHICKEN – is made up of Lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion & mayo on a multi grain bun.
And last but not least to taste was THE AVOCADO CLUB CHICKEN – offering fresh avocado, applewood- smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing and mayo on a multi grain bun.
Every item on the menu that was offered was absolutely delicious If you prefer a salad you have options as well and the portions are enough for 2 most likely you will have left overs for dinner later that day or lunch the next.
Below is just one of the 3 they have on the menu The CLASSIC COB has fresh greens, fried egg, applewood- smoked bacon, tomatoes, onions, cheddar & blue cheese topped with buttermilk ranch dressing.
Don’t forget about dessert Haagen-Dazs Shakes & Malts are served fresh to order – my favorite was the oreo but are so many to choose one you can have a different flavor each time.
