Staples for Back To School Shopping #Giveaway #StaplesHasit

I was not compensated for this post.  I attended a back to school event where I received a Staples bag of goodies and Monster headphones.

Getting ready for back to school?  I’m here to let you know that for the 2013 Back to School season #StaplesHasit !

Staples Twenty Five dollar Gift Card Giveaway

A few weeks ago, I attended a Back to School Staples event and learned all about the latest and coolest items that are available at Staples this season.  And, while at Staples, something even cooler happened.  Look Below!

 Staples Nick Cannon @SavvyMomNYC

Nick Cannon arrived at Staples in NYC to share some new Monster headphones with all in attendance.  What a fun experience!

While at Staples, we learned about all the great deals this back to school season:

Back to School Savings Pass

To make it easy for families to save this year, Staples announced the return of the popular Back-to-School Savings Pass, which provides a 15 percent discount on supplies. Available for purchase for $10 through Aug. 31, the savings pass is valid through Sept. 21, to accommodate the multiple trips often required to prepare for the new school year.  For all of the latest deals and promotions for back to school, shoppers can follow #StaplesHasIt on Twitter and Facebook.

 Staples Giveaway

In addition to great savings, Staples will feature the hottest supplies including:

Back to Neon

From the runway to the classroom, neon is the hottest fashion trend of the season. Both Jansport and Puma offer neon backpacks to carry supplies in style ($45.99-$59.99). Bold pink, orange, blue and lime green hues are featured in the Quilted Collection of zipper binders, pencil pouches, tablet cases and clipboards ($4.99-$14.99). Take notes in style with the vibrant Studio C® Neon Zip-It 1 Subject Notebook ($4.99) and collection of Neon Sharpies ($8.99).

Exclusive Patterns and Designs

Staples offers unique designs on products like the exclusive Staples BETTER® binders, sticky notes and index card holders, making it easy for students to show their style and while keeping up with the latest trends. Themes include Color Splash with an explosion of pastels and bright colors to the open, moving patterns of Geo Graphic, to Urban Spirit, which mixes street art and life, to the whimsical Memory Lane echoing vintage themes.

Twinkle, Twinkle

School supplies are lighting up with cool fiber-optic treatments. The Glo-Lite collection featuring staplers, rulers and dry-erase boards ($6.00-$8.99), lights up when pushed. Exclusive to Staples, Fiber Optic Pencil Pouches twinkle in cool designs including shoe, piano and paisley ($6.99). Bring some shine into the cafeteria with an assortment of light up lunch bags that come in assorted designs ($12.99).

Locker Sweet Locker

A student’s locker is their most personal space aside from their bedroom.  Make it feel like home with these innovative accessories. From the Magnetic Motion Sensor Locker Chandelier ($19.99) with seven LED lights, to the exclusive Glo-Lite Magnetic Pencil Bin ($8.99), to unique glitter rugs ($9.99) and magnetic wallpaper ($5.99), students’ private space will stand out in style.

Tech You Can Touch

This year students will be using tech they can touch to do their homework, like the Acer® Aspire 11.6″ Touch Laptop, very portable at only 11.6”, at a very affordable price ($479.99). With new tablets including the HP Slate 7 with Beats ($169.99), Samsung Galaxy II 7″ ($195.99) and Samsung Note 8.0 ($399.99), and new, lower prices on the Google Nexus 7 16GB ($199) and Kindle Fire Kindle Fire HD 8.9” 16GB ($269), kids can stay connected online in and out of the class-room.

 Nothing Basic About It

Kids will be running back to the classroom with these cute twists on the basics. Students can “flex” their math muscles – literally – with the new, bendable Staples® Flexible Calculator ($4.00). Also new, from Scotch Magic, the Chameleon tape dispenser ($9.99) actually changes color when touched! Students can earn a black belt in organization with the Post-It Pop-up Note Karate Dispenser ($9.99) that puts post-it notes at your fingertips.  And kids can carry their favorite furry friend – and supplies – in a Woodland Animal Pencil Pouch ($5.99) available in a variety of fuzzy critters.

Let’s Do Lunch

These cool, new lunch accessories allow parents and students to plan for organized meals all year. The Fit & Fresh 14 Piece Healthy Lunch Set features perfectly proportioned containers with ice packs that snap into the lids ($14.99). Or get Cool It! Ice packs ($10.99) to keep the chill in any lunch bag or box. And the LEGO Lunch box ($14.99) is the ultimate in an updated classic – providing a sturdy iconic lunch container.

Customize with Copy & Print and Arc

Add flair to traditional black and white composition notebooks with Custom Composition Notebook Covers, available to order in-store or on Staples.com and pick-up at Staples Copy & Print locations. Students can choose from six unique patterns, and add their name and favorite photo. The fashionable Arc Customizable Cover Notebook from M by Staples™ offers eight stylish covers on four reversible inserts protected by a clear poly cover. Each insert can be easily swapped or removed so that a picture, schedule or other notes can be displayed for easy customization ($8.99-$10.99).

Giving back.

Millions of students in the U.S. can’t afford school supplies. That’s why Jake T. Austin, Staples and Boys & Girls Clubs have teamed up to raise money so students across the country can get the supplies they need to have a successful school year.

To help the cause, customers can donate $1 at checkout when they shop at their local Staples®store from 6/30/13 through 9/28/13.

Learn more about the program and view our PSA at staplesforstudents.org.

the pass lasts thru 9/21 which is so important. We always had to return to store to get additional classroom requirements. I can’t believe teachers who agree to a classlist and then chastise the class that they should always wait until the first day of class because … well, teachers change their minds. My kids even had teachers that never collected summer reading assignments. Some very wrong messages being sent there.

So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macy So happy to kick off the holiday season with @macys and Santa! Last night, we took the train into the city to preview #Macys #Santaland I have to say it was quite magical. Although my youngest was 12, Santa was able to connect to her and put us all in the holiday spirit.

I believe. I believe….

My mom also came with us. We started talking and I think it was almost 40 years ago that she took us to visit Santa at Macys. I was so happy to visit Santa with her and my youngest for a three generation experience.

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful window displays as you enjoy all of #NYC during the holidays!

#ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but #ad Mental health isn’t talked about enough, but 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness and disorders today.

Let’s reduce the stigma by opening up the conversation in the classroom and at home.
As a teacher and a mom of 3, I know how important it is to be there and be a good listener.

Conversations are super important. It’s never too early (or too late) to have these conversations with your students or your own children.

Operation Conversation is a check-in on kids’ mental health. When we start simple habits of conversations, we can learn about concerns or problems our students are dealing with, help them problem solve, and build their confidence for life’s difficult moments.

Teachers can help to destigmatize mental health starting in their own classrooms by talking to their students about mental health using a free deck of conversation starter cards. Parents can also use these cards to support good conversations while at home. I know as a mom, I can use all the help I can get.

#Giveaway Alert!
I have 5 decks of Conversation Starter Decks of cards to give away to 5 lucky winners to help you get the conversation flowing!

To enter:
1. Comment on this post as to why you would love the conversation starter deck of cards.
 2. Follow @OnOurSleevesOfficial
3. Follow me @SavvyMomNY I will pick the winners after 10pm on 11/22

New York state has so many wonderful places to be New York state has so many wonderful places to be a part of . From the bright lights of NYC, to quiet places of respite in its parks and wooded areas. Time to walk, hike and reflect. Being active and busy is something that I hope my teens learn from and something we can do together to enjoy all the beauty and nature it has to offer while keeping NY tobacco free. Did you know that our oldest generation of smokers are now dying? After them, you have me and a very large group of people who do not smoke at all. So, who’s next? Instead of taking cigarettes off the shelves, the tobacco industry views today’s teens as tomorrow’s customers, using menthol-flavored products to attract and addict kids – and it’s working. More than half (54%) of youth who smoke (ages 12-17 years) use menthol cigarettes. making it easier for kids to start and harder for them to quit. Menthol is not JUST a flavor, it attracts and addicts kids As a teen mom, I am sharing this so we can all take action! Learn more about the impact of Big Tobacco’s manipulative tactics on our communities and how you can take action to help end this injustice. Let’s keep our kids enjoying the wonderful things our state has to offer. Link in bio #NotJustMenthol #TobaccoFreeNYS #ad @tobaccofreenys
