We attended The Smurfs 2 screening event and received a bag of smurf goodies. No other compensation was received. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Raising 3 Savvy Ladies attended a Smurftacular event held at Sony Pictures screening room. Smurfette and Papa Smurf greeted us before entering the theater.
In this sequel to the hybrid live action/animated family blockbuster comedy The Smurfs, the evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world¹s greatest sorcerer. It’s up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to our world, reunite with their human friends Patrick and Grace Winslow, and rescue her! Will Smurfette, who has always felt different from the other Smurfs, find a new connection with the Naughties Vexy and Hackus or will the Smurfs convince her that their love for her is True Blue?
Returning cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Katy Perry as Smurfette and Hank Azaria as Gargamel. Brendan Gleeson joins the cast as Victor Winslow.
I must admit I was a little apprehensive at first not knowing if it would be scary for my girls. But, I was pleasantly surprised to see that The Smurfs 2 exceeded my expectations. There were naughty moments and mischief but all in good fun. I am happy to recommend The Smurfs 2 for my older two children who are 7 and 9.
I did leave my youngest who is 3 home for the screening not knowing how scary it might be. I think I might have her watch some of the original cartoons that I grew up with before seeing the movies.
Adding Brendan Gleeson to the cast as Victor Winslow brings for great comical scenes with Patrick Winslow played by Neil Patrick Harris. I enjoyed the way they teamed up to try and rescue Smurfette.
My girls loved Smurfette’s Party with all the singing and dancing. They are still singing “Ohh La La” by Brittany Spears. Very catchy beat!
