I received tickets in exchange for writing about the show. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you love the music of Laurie Berkner, then Wanda’s Monster will be a treat for your whole family. I took my oldest to a Laurie Berkner concert in Central Park about 8 years ago and we have been fans ever since. Now, all three of my girls enjoy her music. I think this is the reason we all enjoyed the Wanda’s Monster so much. The catchy rhythms had us all singing by the end of the show. I love how during the show, there were times they included audience participation. We were dancing together.
My three year old was a little apprehensive of the monster at first. I would recommend reading the book before attending so that he/she might be aware of what the monster looks like. When my daughter realized that Wanda and the monster were becoming friends, she felt better and was ready to dance.
They all got a kick out of the rockin’ granny. “Monster Boogie” and “Wanda, Whatcha Wanna Do?” favorites and we sang right along.
When the show was over, we headed to the lobby for a Meet and Greet with the cast. We loved the idea of bringing books to life in a musical.
My three savvy ladies and I give this a two thumbs up!
