Sandra Lee World’s Largest Bake Sale took place in Grand Central Station’s Vanderbilt Hall to support the beneficiaries, Food Bank of New York City and No Kid Hungry campaign. I love how this landmark turned into a huge bake sale that was able to lure commuters to stop and support a great cause while enjoying tasty delights from some of NYC’s greatest bakeries.
The idea that children in the United States are hungry seems unacceptable to me. So, I am glad that organizations such as Food Bank of New York City and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign support those who need it most. Sandra Lee and many other celebrities were also at the Bake Sale to bring the crowds to contribute to this great cause. I was lucky enough to meet Ty Pennigton who was drumming up business by using a bullhorn to gather the crowds.
For $5, you were able to choose from many sweet treats. In turn, your $5 meant that others would be able to have 50 meals. Amazing! Cheryl’s Cookies are a favorite in my house so I was happy to support the cause and purchase from them. Believe me, my girls were happy too when I came home with the buttercream frosted flower cookies.
After buying one large cookie from Ty Pennington, I realized that I needed to go back and get another two. How could I go home with one when I have three children at home? And, it was all for a good cause!
To help support this great cause, I am hoping that you will help spread the word on Facebook and Twitter. Between now and May 31st, Kmart will donate $1.00 to Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry up to $10,000 each time you spread the word on Facebook and Twitter or share a Sandra Lee recipe card with friends and family.

What an amazing event! I’m so jealous of the Ty Pennington pic, lol.
What an amazing event! I can’t believe all the celebrities that were there and that you got to meet Ty Pennington – that’s amazing! I’m sure the food was amazing too, I can’t even imagine! I’d love to attend next year if they have it again.
That’s a small price to pay to help, and how cool that you got to meet Ty and buy the cookie from him!!!!
Oh how I would have gone broke being there. I love sweets especially when it is for a good cause.
Every year I say I’m going to go to this and every year I miss it. 🙁 Looks like a terrific event!
I am so sad I missed you! It was such a great event for an amazing cause, and I couldn’t get over how massive it was. So many great options! Regretting not picking up the Dylan’s Candy Bar Cupcake set. You know me and the cakes….
