I am a teacher. I have taught elementary students for the last 14 years. I think some of the reasons that I am a teacher has to do with the fact that I was inspired by some of my own teachers. I love math and trying to figure out solutions to puzzles, so I have Mr. Frey and Mr. Antinore to thank for that. (I think I should add my dad in here too. He was the one correcting my math and always made sure that I double checked my work. ) When I know and easier way to solve a problem, I try my best to share that with my students.
I also love to write so I thank Ms. Ciarcia for that. And Sr. Anne too for without my knowledge of good grammar, I would not be able to pass the ability to parse a sentence onto my own students.
I also love to read poetry and try my best to remember quotes and famous lines such as my favorite “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. And, for that, I have to thank my very first teacher, my mother.
So, to honor our favorite teacher, I thought the voting for some deserving teachers through the Hilton HHonors Teacher Treks Program would be a great way to help another teacher out.
Did I mention that each time you vote, it counts as an entry toward a $250 Hilton HHonors gift card? From those that voted in the Teacher Treks competition, 10 random winners will receive one Hilton HHonors Gift Card valued at $250

So, why not help a deserving teacher out! (Teacher Appreciation Day is right around the corner) Now through April 30, 2013, the public can vote for their favorite finalist at www.hhonors.com/TeacherTreks to help determine the 15 winning entries. And , how awesome would it be to be one of the selected teachers who, if chosen for the grant will be funded to travel and to experience first-hand the subject they teach, enriching their curriculum and inspiring students to explore the world.
Hilton HHonors developed the program in partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE), a world leader in the international exchange and administrator of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. This is a sponsored post with Hilton HHonors and Global Influence. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. And, since this is a way to help a teacher out, I wanted to get involved.
I think my sixth grade teacher was significant for me in building my self-esteem!
Every one of us can learn more, even teachers. What a great way to give back!
I have a few favorites, but my all time most loved teacher was from 2nd grade. She was a breath of fresh air and gave me more love than I ever dreamed of.
My freshman year English teacher. She was amazing!
Its hard to pick just one but I’d have to say my high school art teacher. He made art fun and a enjoyable space for kids to create!
What a fascinating idea the Hilton HHonors teacher Trek Competition is! I have read all of the essays and my favorite by far is Sandra K. I love how she says that as a reading teacher, she has always promoted books as powerful and accessible means for students to travel. She would like to travel to the Indian Ocean islands of Zanzibar, just off the coast of Tanzania, and Mauritius, east of Madagascar “… to observe firsthand how the people on both of these islands – comprised of minorities and the meeting of cultures that have been in conflict in other parts of the world – have found ways to live side-by-side…” I hope she is one of the winners.
I am one of the finalist! i would love it if you took a minute to read my proposal! My students and I are so excited about this possibility!
I voted Ashley! Best of luck! And, thanks for visiting Raising 3 Savvy Ladies!
This website was… how do you say it? Relevant!! Finally I have found something which
helped me. Thank you!
