Fashion Forward Where Real Moms Meet Real Fashion
Nicole (Momtrends), Audrey (Getting Gorgeous & MomGenerations) & Vera (Getting Gorgeous & The Lady & The Blog) worked so hard to put a conference together that was devoted to real women, real fashion and real life. This daylong event was filled with an iVillage video preview, two Panel discussions, Keynote speaker Jill Herzig editor in chief of Redbook magazine and two fashion shows, one for Moms and one for Kids.
The Morning started off with iVillage’s sneak preview of their latest show DIY Beatify with hosts Andrew Sotomayor and Judges Pat Sandora and Kelly Killoren Bensimon (RHONY). Andrew who is a celebrity make- up artist teaches techniques to the 2 contestants on the show who will battle to be the winner of the beauty makeover by utilizing his expertise to transform them.
Next on the agenda was a panel discussion with 4 fabulous women who had so much information to offer from getting their business started and making changes in their career and don’t take NO for an answer. Several key takeaways that I had learned is how you should introduce yourself. Samantha Ettus author of Working Moms Lifestyle mentioned that you should say you are a blogger on which subject and then a Mother next; other women in the work force don’t mention being a mom first then a ….Introduction is key. Michelle Madhok founder of SheFinds.com and MomFinds.com told the audience to stop working for free. You are doing a lot of work for these companies and deserved to get paid for it. Julie Deane – CEO of Cambridge Satchel used the blogging community to help her turn her company into a success sharing her story of the importance of saving her child from being bullied at school. She said that we do have a choice in life and it is important for children to see you stand your ground.
The moment everyone was waiting for was to see fellow bloggers take to the red carpet in great new fashion finds. The best part of the fashion show was that every woman was of a different shape and size and they were showcasing looks that work well for everyone. Some of these looks were sponsored by Levi’s, Sonsi, Ingrid & Isabel, Eileen Fisher, Loft, Lauren by Ralph Lauren Maggie London and Rent the Runway.
The next runway show featured children this time in the most adorable outfits by Tea Collection and shoes by Stride Rite. Who can resist seeing children look so cute dressed up for holidays or every day wear? Tea collection has you covered for infants, boys and girls up to size 12 and woman’s clothing as well.
When talking about fashion you can’t forget about accessories and Pamela Peckerman the Accessory & Style expert had top 3 choices off great add-ons to any wardrobe this season. They are 1. Collar necklaces, so easy to update any blouse she recommended checking out Charming Charlie great store for inexpensive jewelry, 2. Anything gold, be it necklaces, earring or bracelets it is so in right now, 3. Handbags are always the rage. A great saying she came up with for styling is the covers everything from the ring on your finger to the rug on your floor. She can help you find the perfect accessory for anything.
I had such a wonderful time at this event, it was inspiring to here from such wonderful people and learning great tips to make your blog a success and how you can make an impact of those who are reading it.
Thank you to Lauren @NYCLaurenBeth for attending the Fashion Forward conference for Raising Three Savvy Ladies. Such Great information!

Amazing recap! Thank you!
Great recap. I so need to go to one of these.
Awww..looks like such an awesome conference to attend. Perhaps I can attend it next year! =)
It would be so fun to attend a fashion conference with all of those brands for kids!
What a fun event! I’d love to go to a fashion conference some day!
Looks like a lot of fun. And the kids clothing….so freaking cute! I’m glad you had a good time!
Great conference! Thanks for the recap. I like that they encouraged bloggers not to work for free. Most people don’t work for free and bloggers should be repeatedly asked to. I don’t think that I’ll ever introduce myself as a blogger first and mom second though. That is what is unique about many bloggers and mom bloggers; we are mothers first. That is one reason companies and brands seek us out to promote their products.
What a fantastic conference! I love that they showed children’s styles too. And I’m thrilled to hear Charming Charlie was there – it’s one of my favorite stores!
What a great conference! I too love Charming Charlie and Tea Collection. Wish I lived closer!
