I was invited to see the launch of the latest home appliances from Samsung. Patricia Heaton, star of The Middle and Everybody Loves Raymond was the host of the event with and panel of experts with great tips for staying organized in the home and the benefits of using Samsung home appliances. The panel consisted of Julie Morgenstern author of “The Queen of Putting People’s Lives in Order”, Christina Stanley Salerno Blogger for Rachel Ray magazine online and Liz Pryor Good Morning America’s parenting “Advice Guru”
Samsung wants to save mom, time, energy and money all by making appliances user friendly. Samsung believes everything is revolving around technology, they want your home to run more efficiently and that innovation makes life easier and organized but not just for technology sake. They have taken the time to make sure these products are allowing moms to manage busy live.
We were able to see firsthand some of these great new interactive products to Make Your House Work for your “Smart Home”.
The most exciting appliance had to be the LCD refrigerator with Apps. This fridge has the largest capacity of 32 cubic ft. which is equivalent to holding 32 grocery bags that is a lot of food. Bulk shopping is the newest trend and you need the space to accommodate everything.
The LCD Refrigerator with Apps allows you to access the web right in the kitchen no running back and forth to the computer that might be in another room. Some great Apps that are included are Google Calendar, AP News, Weatherbug, Epicurious and many more. You can check recipes on the Epicurious and even list food that you have in the fridge and it will give you some recipes so no food goes to waste. There is even an app that you can program expiration dates for the food placed in the fridge and it will let you know that it will be expiring soon. The average family wastes over $2000 in expired food. I know I would like that extra money in my pocket. Samsung worked with many moms to allow them to manage their busy lives while integrating tech into the kitchen. Time management is the biggest tool especially getting ready in the morning with kid in school, keep your Google calendar up to date and you will have everything at your fingertips. No more forgetting what sport is each day. The top pull out drawer has a sliding divider to help keep food in its place and is easy to separate kids for food; if you keep the healthy snacks at reach for them they are more likely to grab them. There is no more searching for lost items in the back.
Samsung also showcased the Smart Front Load Laundry Pair.
Did you ever think that you could start, stop or pause your washing machine using a smart phone app? No more having to re-wash clothing that has been sitting in the machine to long. You can now load the machine in the morning head out for the day and set the machine to start right before you get home and toss clothes right into the dryer. Liz Pryor mentioned that she loves the Re-fresh setting of the dryer. Say you forgot to wash something and needed to wear it now especially some sports outfits or that dance outfit that never came out of the bag from the week before. You can place these items in the dryer on this setting and your clothes can get a quick steam cleaning.
Timing is everything and the Flex Duo Oven allows you to cook two meals at the same time with 2 different temperatures. There is a smart divider that turns the 5.9 cu. Ft cavity into a dual oven.
This oven is great if you have party going on and need several meals prepared at the same time, no need to remember what was in first and trying to compensate for oven temp and time. There is also a warming drawer on the bottom to keep cooked foods warm and ready for the table when you need it. Sometimes everyone is coming home at different times but they can all experience the same great meal without having to be re-heated in the microwave.
The biggest take away from the event is about being organized and using your time efficiently and Samsung is a big believer in that. Julie Morgenstern gave some great tips about tackling big projects in the house, start in the room that you and the family spend the most time in. Get everyone involved in the process so everyone will know where items belong, sometimes mom will have to give in to thing not being done her way but working together as a family to accomplish these goals. Keep items accessible for everyone, small children cannot reach in high places so move some items to a level for them. They will more likely be able to put things back if they can reach it. Design a system for everyone and stick with it for a week, teamwork is the key to be organized and time efficient. This will allow you to spend less time doing and more time of being together.
