Back to School evening with Momtrends offered lots of great advice for preparing for school next week.
The evening started with learning about healthy eating with Amie from The Healthy Apple.com. Amie offers ways to focus on clean eating and supports families with getting processed packaged food out of their diets.
One piece of advice that resonated with me was her tip on making food ahead of time for the week so that you have it on hand and can use it in a variety of ways. I never really though about making oatmeal in advance. Simple ideas like this help to make a mom’s life easier. Amie is available to consult with families on clean eating and pantry makeovers.

Giesswein , pronounced Geese – vine, discussed an important lifestyle decision that I am trying to get everyone in my house to buy into. Adopting a no shoe house policy means taking shoes off and leaving them at the door. Keep all the outside germs outside! This reminds me of my German grandmother and her constant cleaning. Giesswein is Austrian company offering year round all natural slip-ons. Made from boiled wool, they are long lasting and can be passed down for many wears. The soft boiled wool thread is machine washable. They are an Earth friendly product with a retail price of $50 – $70.
Momagenda was next on the agenda! Nina Restieri, CEO offered organizing tips to help moms through the school year:
* Have a calendar – write everything down
* Delegate the tasks
*Have a place for everything
*Create a homework station for you and child

Very cool event and looks like there are lots of great ideas here!
I love that you mentioned the tip about leaving shoes at the door and related it to your German grandmother – despite having a German grandmother, leaving the shoes at the door always reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw’s lost Manolos.
And I had no idea you could make oatmeal ahead of time – I’ll have to look into that.
