Last Thursday, I got yelled at. That might be an exaggeration but that is how I felt. My babysitter was having a hard time giving the baby a bottle. It’s my fault. She didn’t yell. I was just more annoyed at myself. I love my babysitter and I felt like I let her down.
When I returned to work in May and June, we had a great routine. She would have bottles during the day and I would nurse while we were together.
Then came the lazy days of summer. I was home and it was easier for me to feed her on demand. I never really thought about the fact that she would be older and now had the ability to make choices.
So now, I am going back to work on Tuesday. After Thursday’s fiasco, I have been spending time preparing bottles and creating a schedule. And my baby girl did a great job. Turns out, she likes the bottle extremely hot – almost too hot! She also doesn’t need that much at a time, just 2 – 4 oz. after a jar of food.
I think I am on the road to weaning my baby. She is 7 months old. It will be harder than with my first two because she is strong willed and pulling at my shirt. I will continue to breasfeed in the morning and at night. Let’s see how this journey goes.
