Yesterday I became stranded after a doctor’s appointment. My car wouldn’t start – the battery was dead! Luckily, DH left work to get the girls at camp, then came to get me and the baby. Out of a bad situation, there were many positives:
- the weather was much cooler – even a lovely breeze
- the baby fell asleep in the Bjorn
- my husband was able to pick up the girls on time
When we arrived home, prepared dinner, and started baths. Everyone was clean and ready for bed when all of a sudden, I heard horrible screaming. I ran to the stairs. It was my sister. Many scary thoughts went through my head.
Why is she screaming? Why don’t I hear the girls? While having a good time together, Lauren somehow managed to get her tongue stuck in her braces. She was starting to panic. The kids were getting nervous. The baby began to cry.
I didn’t know what to do. Do I call 911? Do I see if I can remove it? I had to think fast and there was so much crying from everyone! I told the girls to go get their aunt downstairs to help.
I left them all to run down and get my sister’s phone and bag. She’s so smart to put her Doctor’s numbers in her phone. His emergency number is his house. He said meet him at his office.
Kissed the girls quickly and off to drive my sister to the dentist. I felt bad. She was having a hard time swallowing and couldn’t really speak.
We arrived and within minutes the dentist removed her tongue from the wire. What a relief! She was crying from the stress. At least, it was all over and she was OK.
The dentist said to stop and get ice cream to make her tongue feel better. Off to McDonald’s.
The fun never ends! I was glad that this one time, I had the dinner dishes done, and the girls clean before 8:00 pm.
Today is a new day! It is my 9 year anniversary today. Let’s hope today’s adventures are peaceful.
