I #LoveMusic, do you?

by Kerri on March 18, 2013

Music is there for all emotions: times of joy, times of sadness and even times of anger.  I love listening to all kinds of music.  I enjoy everything, well, except for jazz.  Not sure why I can’t get into it, but I also love singing too.
Singing doesn’t love me.  I know the words to many songs but you would rather I not sing.   I know how to “Keep Away from Runaround Sue” and how to “Enjoy the Silence.”  Some days I feel like “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” or that “I’m Living on a Prayer”.
Other days, the “Summerwind, came blowing in”  and “At Last, my love has come along.”  These days warm the heart.
I love how I can hear a song on the radio and immediately I am taken to another time and place.  How the music makes the memory so vivid!
And then, there are the sad times.  Somedays, we all feel like we are “Losing Our Religion.”  Or, I hear “The Wind Beneath My Wings” and I can remember the feelings of watching Beaches with my best friend or the sad time when my grandmother passed away.
Whether happy or sad, I think music is there to support us and heal us when needed.  This is why I love music!

Music keeps memories of my husband and daughter dancing in my head.

Music keeps my three girls little and dancing on New Year’s just by hearing the songs again.  One day they will be all grown up, but I will just need to hear a song to bring me back to New Year’s 2013 and see them dancing the night away. This vision of my girls and the song will be in my heart forever.
As I type this, I feel like I have the lyrics to 1,000 songs going through my head.  It is a good feeling to remember these words and have a common bond with others that stands the test of time.

It’s funny because I can sing the lyrics to songs and still not really pay attention to what they’re saying and I’m singing, but the song itself transports me to a specific time period in my life. I LOVE that about music.

I listened to the story of a guy who had a jukebox in his house when he was little. He grew up listening to the records and loving the songs that the jukebox played.

Music transports me, lifts my mood or lets me steep in a mood too. It’s universal, I think we all love music even if the type we love varies

Love music as well! Cindi Lauper’s True Colors still transports me to a family vacation car trip to Utah… I think that song played every 10 miles. I usually am a beat girl, and now that I have kids I have to be careful because many great songs with a dance beat don’t have the most appropriate lyrics for little ears. I have had to explain a few that made me blush!

I love music, too. I couldn’t through my morning workouts with music. Music helps me worship God, de-stress, relax, and express emotion. This is the first I’ve heard of the Music Project. It sounds interesting.

The first profile I was drawn to was unmistakeably Baltimore. With the stained glass inserts over the door and window and the marble steps…has to be Baltimore. Very cool. I don’t have a very good singing voice, but have always wished I could belt out The Greatest Love of All like Whitney Houston on stage in front of an audience one time just to know that feeling. Guess I have to settle for being an admirer of those who can…..

Music is such an escape and with so many genres it can match any mood you’re in. Recently, I’ve been listening to Frank Sinatra because it reminds me of my dad. He passed away over 20 years ago and I’ve been missing him quite a bit lately.

I love music because so many songs are attached to a place and time. When I hear that song, it will always bring back good memories.
