Have Fun Learning with ABCmouse.com

by Kerri on March 30, 2013

Have you seen the commercials for ABCmouse.com?  I always wondered what it was all about and was recently offered the opportunity to try it out.  My older two daughters are avid readers and my 3 year old wants to be just like her sisters.  I thought ABCMouse.com would be a nice way for her to actively be learning while her sisters were doing homework.

When I signed up for ABCMouse.com, it gave a step-by-step explanation of how to get started.  In addition, I was sent an email checking in to see how it was going.  In the Parent Section, I am able to chart my daughter’s progress and see what she is learing.  I was also able to sit with my daughter to create her avatar while in the game.  She enjoyed picking out hair, face and clothes.

We are in the beginning stages of using the website. While visiting the homepage, there are areas for free play as well as My Learning Path which is a structured set of lessons that teach letter identification, letter writing, and sound/symbol relationships.

For children that have not used a mouse before, ABCMouse.com offers a fun Mouse Tutorial to help them learn mouse control.  Before using the laptop for a purposeful activity, my daughter tended to press all the buttons, so she liked the opportunity to follow along and how to maneuver the mouse.

ABCmouse is an Early Learning Academy with a full online curriculum for preschool through Kindergarten.  Stay tuned as we try out the program for the next few months and share our progress with you.

Raising Three Savvy Ladies is able to offer one lucky reader a  full year subscription to ABCmouse.com
